4th in the Village

It's that time of year that we plan MONTHS for! Our Village population GROWS on the 4th! BUT we don't just have things only going on, on the 4th! We have so much more! 

The weekend before the 4th we always have things going on in the Village! They happen every year and we could not be more proud of our traditions!

Saturday June 28th:

We have our Fun Run hosted by St Johns! This starts at 8 and lasts till about noon! You can sign up by 6/19/25 to be guarenteed a tshirt or by 6/27/25 to guarentee a spot to compete in your division! There will be DonutNV food truck, Barrel House with adult beverages, bounce houses! No need to find childcare for your children that morning. While you are running their are people that will look after your kiddos, free of charge! 

BUT STICK AROUND THAT DAY! Bring some food and maybe even some charcoal to cook out at the park! Platte Center's ANNUAL LAWNMOWER POKER RUN takes place at 2pm! Bring your mower and there is PLENTY of space to park your pickup and trailer! Park at the church or park in the auditorium parking lot to the east of the auditorium! Details below:

Registration 1- PM @ ELMWOOD PARK SHELTER
POKER RUN STARTS AT 2PM PLEASE GET YOUR HANDS PRIOR SHELTER WILL BE SET UP AT 1PM TO PURCHASE HANDS AND REGISTER
MANDATORY AND NEW THIS YEAR!!! PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A FLAG ATTACHED TO WHATEVER IT IS YOU ARE DRIVING (LAWNMOWER, GOLF CART, ATV ETC.) FLAGS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE DAY OF EVENT IF YOU COME WITHOUT.

Then on SUNDAY June 29th: 

We have Water Fights at 2pm! The Platte Center Fire Department grabs the hoses and we take turns as teams battling it out to see who can get the marker across to the other teams side! What a GREAT time!

As we move through the week and you go back to work in anticiaption as to what is to come. Thursday July 3rd the events continue! 
Bank of the Valley - Platte Center Branch will hoste at Hotdog Cook out in their parking lot from 11 am - 1pm and all are welcome to join! Hotdogs, chips & water/juice will be served at no charge.
Then come back to the Village at 6:30 right infront of the park we will have the Frog Jumps and Turtle Races! Bring your own animal or borrow an animal from someone! This is fun for kids ALL ages! Kids look forward to this event EVERY year! 

THE FOURTH OF JULY! THE BREAD AND BUTTER! 

This day is PACKED with so much going on! 
Of course our Annual Parade that runs at 10:30 am RAIN OR SHINE! You can sign up before the day (prefered) OR you can show up morning of and see us in St. Joe's parking lot! We ENJOY SEEING EVERYONE line up main street! Come early and pick your spot! That street fills up FAST!

After the Parade is over head cool off in the Auditorium for Lunch! Our very own Platte Center Rescue Squad: This day they will be surving Pulled Pork, Hotdog, Coleslaw, Baked Beans, Chips and Ice Cream Bar. Juice and water is avaliable. Cost for this is Adults $10 & Kids 4-10 $5! We hope to see you here!!!
 
Did someone say KIDDIE TRACTOR PULL!?! This will start at 12 pm right infront of the Auditorium. Find the tent and white trailer! 1st, 2nd and 3rd in age/gender group will recieve thier own Tractor pull medal! 

Then after that's done grab the family and head right on down to the demo track (SE Side of town on 280th Ave) because this year is the 50TH ANNIVERSARY of the Platte Center Demo Derby! after the demo is done! This year a band is to follow after demo is over so stay and continue to enjoy friends and family at the track with cold beers served to you by the Volunteer Fire Department!
